First Commis – Food & Beverage

About the role

We are seeking a motivated First Commis to join our Food & Beverage team at our Cairo hotel. In this entry‑level kitchen position you will support chefs by preparing ingredients, cooking under supervision, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Portion, chop, peel, weigh and mix ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepare and cook hot and cold dishes, ensuring quality and presentation standards.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Monitor food temperatures and conduct quality checks.
• Set up and break down work stations, and clean kitchen equipment and surfaces.
• Follow food safety, sanitation and company policies.
• Assist with inventory handling and report maintenance or safety issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a kitchen or food‑service environment.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift items up to 25 lb.

Required skills

• Kitchen equipment operation (ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers).
• Food preparation techniques (portioning, chopping, measuring, mixing).
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Ability to follow recipes and quality guidelines.
