Metro Driver – Train Operator

About the role

The Metro Driver is responsible for the safe, punctual and efficient operation of metro trains on both the main line and within the depot. This position ensures high standards of safety, reliability and customer service while strictly following all operating protocols and signalling systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate metro trains on the main line and within depot boundaries in accordance with operational procedures.
• Execute stabling and unstabling procedures at designated locations and monitor train performance.
• Conduct pre‑service safety inspections and adhere to all safety protocols, SOPs and PPE requirements.
• Notify the Traffic Controller of incidents, report to the Transport Supervisor, and coordinate with OCC Controllers on timetable adherence and degraded operations.
• Respond to train failures, operate sweeper trains when required and report unsafe conditions.
• Monitor passenger exchange at stations to ensure safe boarding, alighting and adherence to scheduled departures.
• Maintain professionalism and perform any additional duties assigned by the operations team.

Required profile

• Technical education in electronics, electrical, mechanical or communications engineering.
• Solid understanding of technical terminology relevant to industrial or transport systems.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• 0‑3 years of experience in a technical field; railway experience is an advantage.
