Rolling Stock Engineer

About the role

The Rolling Stock Engineer leads and manages maintenance operations for rolling stock and depot equipment, ensuring high reliability, availability, and safety. The role combines operational efficiency, technical excellence, and proactive team leadership to support seamless trainset performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all maintenance activities for rolling stock and depot equipment, monitor efficiency, and implement corrective actions.
• Investigate damages and equipment failures, analyse trainset performance using diagnostic tools and field data.
• Manage human, material, and financial resources, optimise spare‑parts usage and material forecasting.
• Lead day‑to‑day team coordination, task assignment, shift planning and conflict resolution.
• Maintain accurate records in Maximo (or equivalent MMS), generate and close work orders, and analyse maintenance data trends.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, conduct safety briefings, and lead incident investigations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations and maintenance management of rolling stock or similar heavy‑equipment assets.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of coaching and developing technical teams.
• Ability to coordinate cross‑functional technical efforts and manage subcontractor activities.
• Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Maximo or equivalent Maintenance Management System.
• Use of diagnostic tools and data analysis for equipment performance.
• Resource planning and spare‑parts inventory management.
