Senior Backend Developer

About the role

The Senior Backend Developer will design, develop, and maintain the backend services of an HR SaaS platform. The role focuses on building scalable architecture for HR and payroll processes while meeting Saudi market requirements and integrating with government and banking systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript, and MySQL.
• Design secure, versioned RESTful APIs for web, mobile, and third‑party integrations.
• Implement integrations with Saudi government, regulatory, banking, identity, payroll, ERP, and other enterprise platforms.
• Ensure authentication, authorisation, audit logging, encryption, and secure data handling.
• Optimise database schemas, queries, indexes, and transaction workflows.
• Build reliable integration mechanisms with logging, validation, retries, reconciliation and monitoring.
• Participate in technical design discussions, sprint planning, code reviews and release preparation.
• Write maintainable, documented, tested code and develop unit, integration and API tests.
• Investigate and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks and data inconsistencies.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools while validating all generated output.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Node.js, NestJS, TypeScript and MySQL.
• Proficiency with ORM frameworks such as Sequelize or TypeORM.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, authentication and authorisation.
• Experience building scalable, secure enterprise applications and integrating external APIs or ERP systems.
• Solid knowledge of relational database design, query optimisation and transaction management.
• Familiarity with Git, Agile/Scrum, clean code principles and design patterns.
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and cloud environments is a plus.
