Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Bosta is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance backend services that power its overnight delivery platform for e‑commerce businesses in Egypt. You will work closely with front‑end engineers, product, and design teams to deliver secure, scalable APIs and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust services and system architecture for new and existing projects.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers to ship scalable APIs for client‑facing solutions.
• Build and maintain third‑party API integrations, handling data fetching and processing.
• Translate business, marketing, sales, and logistics requirements into usable, scalable features.
• Balance rapid delivery with quality, mentoring junior engineers along the way.
• Monitor, optimize, and ensure high availability of backend systems.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional experience as a backend software engineer.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work with legacy code.
• Leadership mindset with a willingness to mentor teammates.

Required skills

• JavaScript, Node.js, Express framework.
• NoSQL databases and search engines such as Redis, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
• CI/CD pipeline creation and management.
• A/B testing and canary deployment experience.
• Cloud platforms: GCP or AWS.
• Containerization tools: Docker and Kubernetes.
