Senior Contracts Engineer – Construction & Design

About the role

The Senior Contracts Engineer will ensure that all contractual requirements are correctly implemented and maintained throughout the life of construction and engineering projects. This role acts as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors on all contractual matters, driving compliance and mitigating risks.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor contract document requirements across the project duration.
• Lead review and assessment of claims, disputes, and variations.
• Interact with client representatives, project management consultants, and contractors on contractual issues.
• Assist in drafting commercial terms for design, engineering, and construction services.
• Prepare and review the contractual front‑end portion of contract documents to ensure consistency and minimise ambiguities.
• Administer ongoing contracts, investigate problems, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare correspondence, maintain records, and manage contract variations.
• Oversee contract close‑out procedures, ensuring compliance before final payment.
• Maintain warranties, bonds, insurances, guarantees, and related documentation.
• Prepare logs for variations and claims, and attend commercial/contracts meetings.
• Lead tendering processes and negotiate contracts to agreement and signature.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Architecture Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in construction projects, including at least 5 years in contracts management.
• Strong knowledge of contract administration, negotiation, claims management, and dispute resolution.
• Excellent written and spoken English (mandatory).
• Proven communication, negotiation, and coordination abilities with clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Experience on large‑scale infrastructure, commercial, or residential projects is preferred.
