Software Engineer 2 – Agentic Foundation

About the role

Procore is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to join its Agentic Foundation team, which builds AI‑native tooling for the company’s software development lifecycle. The role focuses on creating and operating frameworks that enable engineers to leverage generative AI throughout coding, testing, and deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evolve core agentic tooling and frameworks that integrate AI into code generation, review, test orchestration and deployment pipelines.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and pair‑program with teammates to raise code quality and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, platform and product engineering groups to define shared standards and avoid duplicated effort.
• Define and champion engineering standards, best practices and platform contracts that support high‑velocity, safe shipping for hundreds of development teams.
• Instrument telemetry and observability to continuously improve lead time, change failure rate and mean time to recovery.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full‑stack and backend development.
• Strong fundamentals in at least one of Ruby on Rails, Python or TypeScript and ability to work across multiple languages.
• Solid DevOps instincts – familiar with deployment strategies, rollbacks, feature flags and high‑scale safety practices.
• Hands‑on experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude, Cursor, Copilot, and ability to build or customise AI‑assisted workflows (prompt engineering, MCP integrations, evaluations, agentic pipelines).
• Comfort exploring fast‑moving AI tooling space and evaluating new technologies critically.
