Assistant Manager – Banking Legal Services (Francophone)

About the role

The Assistant Manager in Banking Legal Services will support the Director of Banking Legal Services in delivering high‑quality legal advice to the Bank and its subsidiaries. This position focuses on African trade finance, ensuring legal solutions are commercially focused and aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on a broad range of banking and finance matters, delivering tailored, commercially focused legal solutions.
• Offer legal and strategic counsel on special projects, identifying potential legal risks.
• Participate in planning, organising and implementing legal support for business activities, including research of precedents and presentation of solutions.
• Guide the application and interpretation of laws and regulations, ensuring adequate controls to mitigate legal risks.
• Assist in developing effective legal processes for timely transaction documentation and standardised legal precedents.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert and key legal advisor on loan products and other banking services.
• Act as legal stakeholder on internal committees, manage special projects and support advocacy related to the Bank’s development mandate.
• Coordinate external counsel engagements to ensure value for money.
• Provide legal advice on international borrowing, capital markets transactions, asset‑liability management, equity participations, grants and co‑financing agreements.
