Category Buyer – Sheet Metal Procurement

About the role

The Category Buyer (Sheet Metal) will be based at the Badr Plant in Egypt and will act as the single point of contact for sheet‑metal suppliers supporting Schneider’s procurement strategy. The role focuses on business continuity, supplier development, and driving cost‑effective, sustainable sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main SPOC for assigned sheet‑metal suppliers, ensuring continuity and performance.
• Collaborate with the Category Manager to gather ETO specifications, define qualification criteria, and segment the supplier base.
• Develop and execute the Annual Procurement Operational Plan (APOP) in line with global and plant strategies.
• Negotiate global frame agreements and monitor supplier competitiveness, quality, and capacity.
• Lead supplier development initiatives together with Global Category, SLD, and quality teams.
• Track productivity actions using the iSave tool and improve cash flow (DTDD – DPO) with suppliers.
• Coordinate with project buyers on key initiatives to enhance cost competitiveness.
• Provide first‑level escalation support for business continuity and supplier quality issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a degree in Procurement or Supply Chain is a plus.
• 4‑6 years of experience in procurement management, preferably within sheet‑metal or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong negotiation, influencing, and communication skills.
• Ability to navigate complex, cross‑functional environments and build networks.
• Analytical mindset with solid presentation abilities.
