Commis – Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Commis to join the kitchen team at our new Morgans Originals hotel in Egypt. As an entry‑level kitchen assistant you will support senior chefs in preparing high‑quality dishes and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with ingredient preparation, cooking, and plating according to recipes.
• Perform mise en place, including chopping vegetables, portioning meats and preparing sauces.
• Monitor freshness and proper storage of all food items, rotating stock as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations, equipment and utensils, following all safety regulations.
• Support inventory checks, report low stock and help with stock rotation.
• Rotate between stations such as starters, mains and pastry, adapting to service demands.
• Assist with dishwashing and overall kitchen upkeep.

• Positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to work in a fast‑paced team.
• Responsiveness to senior chefs’ directions and commitment to the company’s service culture.
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
