Maintenance Shift Engineer – Electrical & Automation

About the role

The Maintenance Shift Engineer is responsible for the electrical, automation, instrumentation and DCS systems of Saint‑Gobain Glass Egypt’s production lines. You will ensure safe, reliable operation of medium and low voltage control panels, PLC programs and related instrumentation while leading a technical team on a rotating shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot electrical, automation, instrumentation and DCS equipment.
• Manage medium‑voltage and low‑voltage control panels and classic PLC control systems.
• Oversee health, safety and environment procedures including permits to work, LOTO, risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Lead, coach and develop the maintenance team, conducting performance reviews and team meetings.
• Ensure completion of preventive maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, and report incidents.
• Control maintenance costs by correctly allocating labor hours and material orders.
• Support local WCM initiatives and act as sponsor or member for global and local projects.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.
• 1‑2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably continuous process.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and its workplace application.
• Understanding of permit‑to‑work systems, LOTO procedures and environmental regulations.
• Familiarity with company policies on discipline, grievance, absence management and skills development.
