Managing Editor, ZAWYA

About the role

The Managing Editor will lead ZAWYA, a leading source of MENA capital markets news, reporting to the Editor of the Capital Markets Group at LSEG. The role involves shaping editorial strategy, overseeing a multi‑platform newsroom, and building relationships with deal makers and policymakers.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive ZAWYA’s content strategy for primary capital markets across MENA.
• Rebuild and restructure the editorial team, focusing on ECM, DCM, loans, Islamic finance, Sukuk and project finance.
• Organise the newsroom around Cairo and Dubai hubs, managing staffing and coverage cadence.
• Maintain editorial standards, oversee hiring, performance management and day‑to‑day operations.
• Manage the editorial budget and ensure content is tagged for downstream machine‑readability.
• Collaborate with commercial and product teams, negotiate third‑party content arrangements and set licensing standards.

Required profile

• Native‑level mastery of English and Arabic.
• Deep knowledge of global and regional capital markets, especially primary market dealmaking.
• Extensive sourcing network with issuers, bookrunners, arrangers and regulators in the Middle East and North Africa.
• Strong writing, editing and journalistic standards, including sourcing, verification and ethics.

Required skills

• Familiarity with content management systems.
• Ability to interpret analytics data to measure content performance.
• Experience rebuilding editorial teams and redefining coverage scope (preferred).
