Project Engineer – Primary Engineering

About the role

Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead primary engineering activities for high‑voltage GIS and AIS substation projects across Egypt and the broader Middle East region. The role involves coordinating all engineering disciplines to ensure cost‑effective, safe, and quality‑driven project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review overall equipment layouts, arrangement drawings, earthing, cable routing, lightning protection, and electrical clearances for 33‑kV to 400‑kV GIS and AIS substations.
• Perform structure design calculations, including short‑circuit forces, cantilever strength, conductor sizing, and sag‑tension analysis for gantries, towers, and equipment support structures.
• Review supplier documentation for transformers, switchgear, and other substation equipment, and verify structure designs against mechanical and electrical inputs.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables with internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with civil and MEP disciplines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in AIS/GIS substation engineering, preferably in the Middle East.
• Proven ability to manage project engineering scope, budgets, and schedules.
• Strong drafting skills using Revit or AutoCAD.
