Senior Data Engineer Lead

About the role

EVA Pharma, a pharmaceutical company dedicated to advancing health and well-being, is looking for a Senior Data Engineer Lead in Cairo. The role leads the design, development and maintenance of reliable data pipelines and works closely with AI/ML teams, while mentoring junior data engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines moving data into cloud warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery or Databricks, with real-time or near-real-time processing for dashboards and operational systems.
• Optimize pipeline performance as data volumes grow, and implement automated validation, anomaly detection and alerting to keep data accurate.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2) and maintain documentation and data lineage for audits.
• Evaluate and introduce tools such as Airflow, dbt, Kafka or Spark, and collaborate with AI/ML teams on model deployment.
• Develop best practices for data modeling, storage optimization and version control, aligning data structures with business metrics and analytics use cases.
• Conduct design reviews, review code quality and mentor and coach data engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in data engineering or related fields, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Proven ability to design, build and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
• Solid grasp of data governance, privacy and security, plus strong problem-solving, architectural design and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Strong SQL and Python.

• Big data technologies such as Spark and Databricks.
