Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer

About the role

The Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide expert technical support for a live gas processing operation. This role covers the full lifecycle of rotating machinery, from design assurance and troubleshooting to maintenance strategy and long‑term reliability improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver senior‑level engineering support for high‑risk rotating assets such as gas turbine generators, compressors, pumps, gearboxes and sealing systems.
• Perform advanced calculations, assessments and condition‑monitoring analyses (vibration, oil analysis, thermography, performance trends).
• Lead or support root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and translate findings into corrective actions and defect‑elimination plans.
• Develop, maintain and validate equipment strategies, inspection scopes, overhaul philosophies and sparing plans.
• Collaborate with operations, reliability and project teams to resolve machinery issues, reduce repeat failures and improve asset availability.
• Provide technical input for Management of Change (MoC), brown‑field modifications, design reviews, equipment selection and specification development.
• Support hazard identification and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, vulnerability studies) where rotating equipment is a key contributor.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineering experience with rotating equipment in an industrial or gas‑processing environment.
• Proven ability to deliver independent technical judgment on equipment performance, condition and risk‑based decisions.
• Experience working closely with operations, maintenance, reliability and project teams.

Required skills

• Rotating equipment engineering (turbines, compressors, centrifugal and positive‑displacement pumps).
• Vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography and other condition‑monitoring techniques.
• Root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement.
• Hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), hazard identification (HAZID) and layer of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Maintenance strategy development, inspection planning and overhaul philosophy.
• Technical design review, equipment selection, datasheet and specification preparation.
