Shift Lead Engineer

About the role

The Shift Lead Engineer supervises plant operations, coordinates workflow, and acts as the main interface between production, maintenance, and business development teams. This role ensures optimal performance, safety, and reliability of the facility while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Organise daily plant activities and liaise with Industrial, Maintenance, SIO Center, and Business Development teams.
• Collaborate with the Smart Innovative Operation/Optimization Center (SIOC) to enhance efficiency, reliability, and energy sourcing strategies.
• Follow and contribute to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), driving continuous improvement.
• Monitor the unattended control room, respond to alarms, troubleshoot via DCS, and attend escalated issues on‑site.
• Investigate operational problems to reduce detection‑to‑resolution time.
• Manage automated loading systems, coordinating material and bulk product movements.
• Safely start‑up and shut‑down plant equipment in compliance with SOPs.
• Execute routine and corrective M1 maintenance tasks, including analyzer checks, safety valve inspections, and oil sampling.
• Perform equipment health inspections, log observations, and support downtime reduction.
• Oversee local spare‑parts inventory, create purchase orders, and handle consumables.
• Communicate production plans and incident updates to external customers under Facility Manager delegation.
• Mentor site colleagues, share knowledge, and participate in plant meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plant operations or industrial engineering.
• Strong understanding of SOP development and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage alarms, and make quick decisions.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
