Software Application Engineer – Development Tooling & Automation

About the role

Valeo is seeking a Software Application Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable build and packaging systems, as well as develop tooling that enhances developer productivity. The role focuses on automation, CI/CD pipeline management, and supporting software teams with modern development infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain build and packaging systems using technologies such as CMake and Conan.
• Develop and support IDE extensions and plugins (e.g., VS Code) to streamline developer workflows.
• Automate development, build, and release processes and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins.
• Administer backend services and REST APIs that support the development infrastructure.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure reliability of the development toolchain.
• Collaborate with software teams to identify pain points and deliver effective tooling solutions.
• Investigate and integrate modern technologies, including AI‑based approaches, to improve processes.
• Provide documentation and support for all managed tools and systems.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 1–3 years of experience in software or tooling engineering, DevOps, or a similar role.
• Proven experience with scripting and programming languages.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile principles.
