AI Engineering Intern

About the role

Ericsson is seeking a Data Scientist Intern for its first R&D hub in the Middle East and Africa. The role is open to senior‑year university students pursuing Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related degree, with an expected graduation in 2027 and strong English communication skills.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI Engineering, Data Science, MLOps and Cloud teams to develop and implement machine‑learning models, including generative AI applications.
• Assist in data collection, processing, and analysis to support ongoing projects.
• Explore and experiment with state‑of‑the‑art generative AI models such as large language models (LLMs) and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).
• Develop prototypes and proof‑of‑concept solutions using ML and GenAI technologies.
• Evaluate model performance, provide data‑driven improvement suggestions, and document findings for internal and external presentations.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on project development and innovation.

Required profile

• Senior‑year student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Expected graduation year: 2027.
• Very good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficient in Python and software‑engineering best practices (maintainable code, testing, OOP).
• Solid understanding of statistics, probability, multivariable calculus and linear algebra.
• Knowledge of classical machine‑learning and deep‑learning theory.
• Experience with ML/DL frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch and Keras.
• Data manipulation and analysis using Pandas.
• Unsupervised learning techniques and advanced clustering algorithms.
• Python visualization libraries (Matplotlib, Plotly, Seaborn).
• Packaging machine‑learning work for deployment.
• Hands‑on experience with generative AI, LLMs and RAG.
• Familiarity with NLP techniques and tools; experience with models like GPT or BERT is highly desirable.
• Fine‑tuning LLMs is a plus.
