Topside Controls Engineer

About the role

Join Baker Hughes as a Topside Controls Engineer and lead the development of automation software for advanced subsea control systems. You will work across multiple automation platforms, turning complex requirements into reliable embedded solutions that power the next generation of industrial technology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and SCADA applications, creating new functions, troubleshooting issues, and managing source control.
• Report project progress and resource status regularly, providing technical input to project plans.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure unit engineering meets contract specifications and local regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Technical Diploma or higher in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of software development experience, preferably in oil & gas.
• Strong analytical skills and a proven track record delivering small‑scale engineering or automation projects.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation abilities; willingness to travel to assigned sites.

Required skills

• PLC programming and HMI/SCADA technologies (Twincat Soft PLC, Ignition SCADA preferred).
• Industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, CAN, Ethernet UDP, and OPC UA.
• Object‑oriented design principles and modern software development methodologies.
• Experience with software development processes and quality improvement initiatives.
