HSE Supervisor – Railway Maintenance Safety

About the role

The HSE Supervisor will lead safety and environmental initiatives for railway maintenance activities, ensuring that all work is performed safely, complies with regulations, and protects personnel and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise hazard and risk assessments for day‑ and night‑time maintenance tasks.
• Review existing procedures, identify safety gaps, and develop risk booklets for maintenance work.
• Report safety issues to the QHSE manager and maintain incident/accident records.
• Ensure proper use, certification, and inspection of equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and scaffolding.
• Plan and manage lifting operations, defining safe systems of work.
• Maintain and test the Emergency Response plan for effectiveness.
• Conduct daily or weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings.
• Support training, orientation, and safety communication for employees and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the corporate QHSE department on any requested tasks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a railway‑related engineering field.
• Minimum 7 years of full‑time Health, Safety & Environment experience, preferably in railway construction or maintenance.
• Familiarity with local and international safety standards.
• Fluent in Arabic and English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Risk assessment and safety audit techniques.
• Inspection and certification of forklifts, cranes, and scaffolding.
• Lifting operation planning and safe‑work system design.
• Incident reporting and emergency response planning.
