Lab Engineer – CNC and CAD/CAM/CAE

About the role

The Faculty of Engineering seeks a Lab Engineer to support undergraduate tutorials and labs focused on CNC machining, CAD/CAM/CAE, and related manufacturing processes. Working under the Head of Mechanical Engineering, you will ensure the lab runs safely and efficiently while providing hands‑on guidance to students.

Key responsibilities

• Promote laboratory safety and prepare equipment weekly for scheduled sessions.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain CNC machines, welding stations, sheet‑metal and casting equipment.
• Write and edit M/G code for CNC operations.
• Conduct daily functionality checks and perform in‑house repairs on lab tools.
• Coordinate with vendors for installation, maintenance, and software updates.
• Supervise student workers, validate timesheets, and assist with capstone project organization.
• Maintain inventory, prepare quotations for new equipment, and support orientation for new faculty and teaching assistants.

Required profile

• Diploma in Manufacturing or equivalent; Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• At least three years of technical laboratory experience in an academic setting (may be waived for specific graduates).
• Certifications in CNC, machining, welding, sheet‑metal, and casting processes.
• Strong written and spoken communication in Arabic and English; German a plus.
