Materials & Warehouse Specialist

About the role

The Materials & Warehouse Specialist will be based in Damascus, Syria, and will oversee the standardisation, type‑approval and testing of OSP (Outside Plant) materials for telecom network deployment. The role ensures compliance with project standards, drives operational efficiency and supports network evolution initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market analysis and benchmark international OSP material developments to propose suitable solutions.
• Support the set‑up, development and operational management of the OSP Test Laboratory.
• Evaluate material availability with suppliers to align with deployment schedules.
• Develop and maintain standardized OSP material documentation, including specifications, installation procedures and testing standards.
• Assess technical and financial benefits of new materials for CAPEX/OPEX optimisation.
• Provide technical guidance and training to regional teams on approved materials and standards.
• Manage document control, issue technical standards documents and create MIC numbers for new products.
• Analyse material complaints, recommend corrective actions and act as the primary technical focal point for manufacturers.
• Define testing requirements, conduct technical evaluations of samples and oversee the full type‑approval process.

Required profile

• Proven experience in telecom OSP material management, standardisation or related engineering functions.
• Strong understanding of type‑approval procedures, material testing and quality auditing.
• Ability to coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers and cross‑functional project teams.
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
