Radio Design & Planning Engineer

About the role

You will join a team of Quality of Service and Radio Optimization engineers, responsible for RAN engineering studies, configuration and activation of 2G‑5G (with future 6G) radio features, and supporting subsidiaries in technology trials and network evolution.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct annual budget studies to estimate new site needs and update budget reviews.
• Monitor deployment of sites included in the budget program across subsidiaries.
• Manage evolution of radio site configurations (new sites, antenna optimisation) and keep site databases up‑to‑date in planning tools such as Asset and Atoll.
• Perform optimisation actions for mobile network planning (frequency plans, scrambling codes, PCI, etc.).
• Recommend design and planning improvements to alleviate coverage and capacity constraints, including traffic steering.
• Carry out specialised technical studies (indoor coverage, stadiums, etc.) and analyse drive‑test data.
• Operate automatic optimisation tools (C‑SON) to continuously improve radio performance.

Required profile

• 1‑10+ years of experience in mobile telecommunications engineering (minimum 2 years).
• Fluent in French or English.
• Strong business skills: listening to customer needs, influencing stakeholders, and collaborating across organisations.

Required skills

• Radio planning tools: Asset, Atoll, ACP (automated cell planning), AFP (automated frequency planning).
• Knowledge of antenna equipment, hardware and site engineering.
• Understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G network engineering and operations.
• Radio engineering optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Network automation (C‑SON) and propagation model tuning.
• RF analysis tools: MapInfo, QGIS, post‑processing software.
