Back Office L2 Engineer – Security

About the role

Ericsson is looking for a Back Office L2 Engineer specializing in security to join its Telecom Security team. You will operate and manage IP‑backbone security devices, ensuring the protection and reliability of the network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and troubleshoot multi‑vendor firewalls, IPS, authentication servers, token servers, load balancers and DDoS mitigation solutions.
• Secure Gi traffic between GGSNs and Etisalat‑Misr Internet gateway firewalls.
• Oversee communications among IN, VAS, IT, IP‑RAN, OSS, SS7/SIGTRAN, NOC and other network nodes.
• Monitor data‑traffic performance through firewalls and investigate incidents.
• Define threats and develop mitigation action plans.
• Implement security access requests and handle IP‑backbone expansions, replacements and new deployments.
• Provide on‑call support for urgent cases and coordinate third‑party vendor issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in network security.
• BSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong presentation, communication and customer relationship skills.
• JNCIP‑SEC certification is mandatory; F5 certifications are a plus.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Juniper SRX and Fortinet firewalls.
• Experience configuring and managing F5 modules (LTM, AFM, ASM, GTM).
• Scripting and automation knowledge.
• Familiarity with telecom operator networks and IP‑backbone security devices.
