Biomedical Buyer

About the role

The Biomedical Buyer is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end procurement process of medical equipment, spare parts and maintenance services. This role ensures that the hospital or healthcare facility has the right equipment available, at the right cost, and in compliance with technical specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with clinical and engineering departments to gather equipment and spare‑part requirements.
• Create and reactivate item codes in the ERP system.
• Identify and qualify approved suppliers for medical devices and components.
• Prepare and issue RFQs, evaluate quotations for price, quality and technical compliance.
• Negotiate commercial terms and pricing with suppliers.
• Generate purchase orders and monitor approval workflows.
• Track the procurement cycle to guarantee timely delivery and update all transactions in the system.
• Coordinate equipment repair and preventive maintenance with the Biomedical Engineering team.
• Liaise with the Warehouse during receipt, inspection and storage of goods.
• Maintain supplier records, conduct performance reviews and manage warranty, service agreements and contracts.
• Oversee tender processes, from preparation to evaluation of received bids.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies in partnership with suppliers, finance and warehouse teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in biomedical operations or medical equipment procurement.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using ERP systems for purchasing and inventory management.
