Chief Engineer

About the role

The Chief Engineer leads the hotel's Engineering Department and ensures the safe, efficient and reliable operation of all building systems, equipment and facilities. The role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, technical compliance, energy efficiency and team performance, while supporting exceptional guest experiences and MGallery brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operation, inspection, maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building management systems, and run preventive maintenance programmes for rooms, public areas, back-of-house and technical equipment
• Keep power supply, generators, water systems, heating and cooling, lifts and other critical infrastructure running reliably, and respond quickly to faults, guest requests and emergencies
• Maintain maintenance logs, equipment records, service histories and spare parts inventory, and coordinate works with other departments
• Ensure compliance with Albanian laws, safety regulations and hotel policies, including fire and life-safety equipment, emergency systems and risk assessments
• Prepare and monitor the engineering budget, track utility consumption and optimise energy and water efficiency
• Manage external contractors, quotations, procurement and service contracts, and plan and supervise repairs, refurbishments and improvement projects
• Lead, train, schedule and evaluate the engineering team, conduct property inspections and report technical risks to hotel management

Required profile

• Trade qualification in electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing, building services or a related discipline
• Previous leadership experience in hotel engineering, facilities management or a comparable environment
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and capital projects
• Desirable: previous hospitality or hotel experience, BMS experience, project management qualifications, Fire Safety Adviser, Pool Plant Operator, First Aid and CPR certifications
