Co Teacher

About the role

The Co Teacher works alongside the class teacher to support the learning environment and ensure the welfare of students. This role involves both classroom assistance and personal care, helping to create a safe and engaging atmosphere for all pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in managing individual students and groups.
• Plan and deliver physical and general care activities in cooperation with the teacher.
• Provide personal welfare support and ensure student safety.
• Model positive behaviour, recognise individual needs and respond appropriately.
• Encourage student interaction and participation in teacher‑led activities.
• Supervise students during lessons, out‑of‑lesson times, school trips and other activities.
• Comply with child protection, health, safety, welfare, confidentiality and data‑protection policies.
• Participate in the school’s professional learning framework and training sessions.
• Contribute to extracurricular activities and overall school development.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a lead teacher.
• Strong awareness of individual student needs and a caring attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding, health and safety standards.
• Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
