Cost Manager – Commercial

About the role

The Commercial Cost Manager will lead inventory and cost control activities across the plant, ensuring accurate accounting of raw materials, work‑in‑progress and finished goods. You will partner with production, quality and finance teams to drive cost efficiency, reduce waste and support month‑end financial closing.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records, conduct cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies for raw material, WIP and finished goods.
• Monitor inventory ageing, enforce FIFO/FEFO rules and initiate corrective actions for slow‑moving or obsolete stock.
• Track material consumption against standard BOMs, analyse variances and validate standard costing structures.
• Identify and reduce scrap, wastage and conversion losses by collaborating with production and quality teams.
• Oversee end‑to‑end stores operations, ensuring proper receipt, storage, issue and documentation of materials.
• Lead month‑end inventory closing, valuation and cost booking, supporting internal and external audits.
• Provide MIS reporting on inventory accuracy, scrap trends, yield performance and consumption variance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in inventory control, cost accounting or production cost management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate variances and implement corrective measures.
• Familiarity with FIFO/FEFO principles and standard costing methodologies.
• Ability to work closely with production, quality and finance teams to drive continuous improvement.
