Costing Section Head

About the role

The Costing Section Head will lead the cost accounting function for a high‑volume cold‑chain ice‑cream manufacturing plant. This senior position bridges finance, production and supply‑chain teams to ensure accurate product costing, inventory control and profitability analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing sheets for all ice‑cream SKUs in coordination with R&D and Production.
• Perform regular cost roll‑ups, updates for raw materials, ingredients and packaging components.
• Conduct variance analysis (standard vs. actual) for material usage, labor and manufacturing overhead, investigating root causes of scrap, spoilage or batch losses.
• Audit inventory transactions, monitor shelf‑life, slow‑moving and obsolete inventory, and oversee physical and cycle counts in both ambient and cold‑store environments.
• Allocate utility costs (electricity, water, refrigeration) accurately to manufacturing overhead.
• Prepare profitability reports by SKU, product category or distribution channel to support pricing decisions.
• Lead month‑end closing for cost accounts, accruals and COGS reporting; assist in budgeting and cost forecasting.
• Supervise, mentor and evaluate a team of cost accountants.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of relevant experience in cost accounting or financial control.
• Experience in cold‑chain or food‑processing manufacturing environments.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a cost accounting team.
