Customer Engineer (ATM)

About the role

The Customer Engineer (ATM) provides on‑site technical support and maintenance for ATMs and self‑checkout devices across South Africa. This field‑based position ensures equipment reliability, high customer satisfaction, and compliance with service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain hardware of ATMs and related electromechanical devices.
• Produce and update equipment performance reports and implement hardware modifications.
• Provide multi‑vendor maintenance and support for a range of ATM manufacturers.
• Maintain day‑to‑day customer relationships, communicate status updates, and escalate issues when necessary.
• Diagnose problems using structured troubleshooting methods and own issues through resolution according to SLA agreements.
• Process stock movements and call‑out details via the mobile service application.
• Travel throughout South Africa to perform installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Participate in standby rosters for weekends, public holidays, or shift work as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of electromechanical systems and structured diagnostic methodologies.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving and analytical abilities in a field‑service environment.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and third‑party service providers.
• Willingness to travel extensively and be available for on‑call support.
