Development Manager – Project Technical Officer

About the role

The Development Manager (Project Technical Officer) will provide specialised technical expertise and operational support for the RedSeaFish project, ensuring high‑quality, coordinated delivery of fisheries‑management activities across six Red Sea countries.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day implementation of project activities, guaranteeing technical quality and timely delivery.
• Coordinate closely with international experts, consultants, partners and national stakeholders to produce harmonised, science‑based outputs.
• Manage fisheries data and information systems, and support capacity‑development initiatives at regional and national levels.
• Ensure compliance with donor (GEF) requirements and align activities with FAO and RECOFI guidelines.
• Facilitate the strengthening of regulatory frameworks and institutional capacity for sustainable fisheries management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (MSc required; PhD preferred) in Fisheries, Marine Biology, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Policy/Economics or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of relevant experience in fisheries or marine resource management, preferably in multi‑country projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work under the supervision of a Chief Technical Advisor/Project Manager.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and international project coordination.
