Agriculture & Seeds Manager, Africa & Trading

About the role

Kraft Heinz is looking for an Agriculture & Seeds Manager for Africa & Trading, based at the 6 October Factory in Egypt. You will create and implement farming systems that deliver a secure, sustainable supply of tomato and peppers from partner farmers, and drive the commercial and sales strategy of Heinz Seed in Egypt. The role reports to the Head of Agriculture of East (Turkey, Egypt, Poland) with a dotted line to the Head of Procurement Africa & Trading.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Egypt Agriculture & Seed team (2 direct reports and 4 agronomists).
• Ensure on-time, full delivery of tomato and pepper supplies from partner farmers and give procurement insights for farmer contract negotiations.
• Develop and implement a regional agriculture strategy focused on grower optimization and improved predictability, productivity, cost, quality and sustainability.
• Lead the seed development strategy and process, and the seeds sales commercial strategy to meet annual sales targets.
• Set the seeds pricing policy for Heinz Seed in Egypt and define the short-, medium- and long-term variety portfolio.
• Own the contracting process with new customers and the seeds sales forecast to global.
• Oversee demand generation trials and organize grower events, and lead the monthly performance review.
• Ensure implementation of the traceability system and sustainability certification, and report on all KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in plant science, agriculture, agronomy or a related field.
• Seven years of hands-on experience in tomato or similar crop production and two years in a management position.
• Passion for production agriculture and field improvement activities.
• Ability to work independently and manage yourself to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Good command of English.
• Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Communication skills and presentation ability.

The role is field-based, with frequent travel to growers' sites, domestic and international travel and outdoor work in all seasons.
