Field Service Engineer - Power Systems

About the role

Hitachi Energy Technology S.A.E. is hiring a Field Service Engineer in Cairo to work with state-of-the-art power technologies. The role covers installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and digital service solutions that keep critical infrastructure running efficiently, combining technical expertise, customer engagement and travel opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repair, upgrade and retrofit of power systems, electrical equipment and service solutions across the Hitachi Energy portfolio.
• Carry out field service according to technical procedures, contractual requirements and customer expectations, providing remote and on-site technical support.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, control and protection system faults and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance and recommend improvements to equipment performance and reliability.
• Prepare service reports, technical documentation, risk assessments, method statements, fault analysis reports, repair records and site documentation.
• Build customer relationships and identify opportunities for service agreements, upgrades, modernization projects, digital solutions, spare parts and refurbishment.
• Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, Supply Chain and other stakeholders, and travel to customer sites locally and internationally as required.
• Support critical service issues and escalations, and comply with health, safety, environmental, quality and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in field service, installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing or related engineering activities.
• Experience with transformers, substations, high-voltage equipment, power quality solutions, protection and control systems, grid automation solutions or power systems.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites, often on short notice, within Egypt and potentially internationally.

Required skills

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Knowledge of transformers, substations, high-voltage equipment, protection and control systems and power systems.
