GL Accountant – General Ledger Accounting

About the role

We are looking for a GL Accountant to join our finance team in Sheraton, Cairo. The role involves managing the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting month‑end and year‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries into the general ledger.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, including bank, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany accounts.
• Execute month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing activities.
• Review and analyze financial transactions for correct recording.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP and company policies.
• Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanations.
• Manage fixed‑asset accounting and depreciation calculations.
• Prepare account reconciliations and variance analyses.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting by providing historical financial data.
• Coordinate with AP, AR, Payroll, and Tax teams for accurate reporting.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and proper classifications.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Prepare statutory and management reports as required.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective time management to meet reporting deadlines.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
