Head of Department Science Teacher (August 2026)

About the role

Westview International Language School is looking for a highly experienced and visionary Head of Department (HOD) - Science Teacher to lead its Science department. The workplace is on site, and the role calls for a dynamic educator who can inspire students and staff while raising the standards of teaching and learning across all science subjects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and management for the Science department, promoting excellence in teaching and student achievement.
• Develop, implement and evaluate the science curriculum so it aligns with educational standards and school goals.
• Support and mentor science teachers, facilitate professional development and foster a collaborative team.
• Monitor and analyse student performance data to find areas for improvement and put targeted interventions in place.
• Lead department meetings, contribute to school-wide planning and take part in leadership initiatives.
• Promote innovative teaching practices and bring in new technologies and resources to improve learning outcomes.
• Ensure health and safety compliance in science laboratories and practical activities.
• Engage with parents, stakeholders and external partners to support the department's objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related scientific field.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a school's science department.
• Extensive teaching experience in science across multiple age groups or stages.
• Fluency in English is required.

• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices and educational standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to manage staff and engage the school community.
• Ability to inspire and motivate teachers and students.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and educational innovation.
