HSE Advisor

About the role

Hitachi Rail GTS Egypt is looking for an HSE Advisor based in Cairo. The role supports the implementation of Hitachi Rail's health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and standards, and covers reporting, inspections, contractor safety and accident investigation. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of HSE policies, procedures and standards, and maintain HSE records, inspection reports, observations and statistics.
• Report HSE performance indicators to the HSE Manager and prepare daily, weekly and monthly HSE reports.
• Promote environmental awareness, good housekeeping and sustainability initiatives, and support environmental inspections.
• Verify emergency equipment availability, support emergency response planning and drills, and ensure contractors follow project-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct HSE inductions for employees, visitors and contractors, and take part in contractor inspections and performance evaluations.
• Monitor the closure of HSE observations and corrective actions, and investigate accidents, incidents, unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and near misses.
• Assist project teams in risk mitigation, review work permits, and take part in hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Verify proper use of PPE, identify hazards and unsafe behaviours, and conduct routine site inspections and workplace audits.
• Ensure compliance with Egyptian legal requirements, client requirements and company regulations, and assist in maintaining the management systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 3+ years of HSE experience.
• Experience in railways, construction, infrastructure, transportation or industrial projects.
• Experience with contractors and multinational organisations is an advantage.

Required skills

• NEBOSH IGC (Level 3)
• NIOSH certification
• ISO 45001 internal auditor (preferred)
• First aid and fire safety training
