IMS Core Performance & Optimization Engineer

About the role

The IMS Core Performance & Optimization Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, availability, and efficiency of the IMS Core network. You will monitor key performance indicators, analyse service quality, and work closely with operations, engineering and vendor teams to enhance VoLTE, VoWiFi and other IMS services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor health and performance of IMS Core elements to guarantee service availability.
• Analyse IMS KPIs, detect degradations affecting VoLTE, VoWiFi, SMS over IMS and multimedia services.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of performance issues and propose corrective and preventive actions.
• Optimise IMS Core configurations and parameters to improve network efficiency.
• Monitor signalling performance for SIP, Diameter, RTP, DNS and SCTP protocols.
• Analyse traffic trends, conduct capacity planning and generate regular performance reports.
• Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Engineering and Vendors to resolve performance‑related problems.
• Validate network performance after software upgrades, patches, configuration changes and new feature roll‑outs.
• Develop dashboards and automate reporting using scripting and reporting tools.
• Document optimisation activities and support major incident investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
• 5‑7 years of experience in IMS Core operations, performance monitoring or optimisation.
• Strong understanding of IMS architecture, VoLTE/VoWiFi service flows and IMS registration procedures.
• Proven experience analysing SIP traces and troubleshooting signalling issues.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• IMS Core network elements (P‑CSCF, I‑CSCF, S‑CSCF, BGCF, MGCF, TAS, SBC, HSS/UDM, MRF).
• Telecom protocols: SIP, Diameter, RTP/RTCP, SCTP, DNS, HTTP/2.
• KPI monitoring and performance analysis tools (OSS/PM platforms).
• SQL and basic database querying.
• Scripting languages: Python, Bash or Shell.
• Linux operating system proficiency.
