Infection Control Specialist

About the role

The Infection Control Specialist is responsible for monitoring, preventing, and reducing hospital‑acquired infections. Working closely with nursing staff, microbiologists, and all hospital departments, this role ensures compliance with hygiene standards and supports a safe patient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in preparing infection surveillance reports and tracking infection rates.
• Monitor implementation of hospital cleanliness and hygiene regulations.
• Oversee nursing staff compliance with proper medical waste disposal methods.
• Provide guidance and counseling to all departments to prevent and eliminate hospital‑acquired infections.
• Conduct surveillance of infections in collaboration with microbiologists.
• Carry out epidemiological investigations across departments to identify problems and propose solutions.
• Assist in planning and updating infection control programs.
• Design reporting systems for notifying and documenting infections.
• Help select infection control supplies (disinfectants, single‑use items) and provide usage instructions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, or Nursing.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in infection control or a related healthcare setting.
• Diploma or certification in Infection Control.
