Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Dish'd, a fast‑growing virtual food brand franchisor, is seeking its first Lead Data Scientist to create a modern data science function from scratch. You will shape predictive models, own the data platform, drive AI strategy, and mentor a small high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement forecasting, pricing optimisation, churn prediction, CLV and territory analysis models.
• Take models from concept through production, ensuring continuous improvement.
• Architect and maintain a BigQuery data warehouse and build scalable ELT pipelines using dbt or similar tools.
• Deliver trusted datasets and reporting that power business decisions.
• Develop AI‑powered workflows, natural‑language querying and automated monitoring.
• Lead and mentor a Data Engineer and Data Analyst, manage specialist contractors and set standards for the growing function.

Required profile

• Commercial experience building predictive and forecasting models in fast‑moving industries such as food delivery, QSR or logistics.
• Strong communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Advanced Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit‑learn, Prophet, statsmodels).
• Expertise in time‑series forecasting.
• Proficient SQL and statistical modelling.
• Experience deploying production‑ready models.
• Designing modern data platforms (BigQuery, dbt or equivalent).
• Power BI or similar BI tools (desirable).
• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) (desirable).
• Workflow automation tools such as Airflow or n8n (desirable).
• Knowledge of LLMs, agentic AI or NLP (desirable).
