Lead Urban Designer

About the role

Atkins Realis is expanding its Urban Design practice and is looking for a Lead Urban Designer to own and drive small to medium‑size urban design and planning projects. Reporting to senior leads, you will shape master‑planning concepts and deliver detailed design solutions across property, infrastructure and transportation sectors worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of urban design and planning projects from concept through detailed design.
• Develop master‑planning and urban design concepts using 3D and digital media.
• Produce drawings, graphics, models and reports to high technical and presentation standards.
• Lead Middle East projects with full design and delivery responsibility.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary teams and ensure deliverables meet Atkins quality standards.
• Review and mentor junior team members, checking work for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare technical reports and contractual documents with minimal guidance.
• Identify additional work opportunities and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading urban design or master‑planning projects.
• Ability to work independently and guide junior staff.
• Strong communication skills for client and internal coordination.
• Willingness to travel between Atkins offices as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D modelling and digital design tools.
• Technical report drafting and preparation of contractual documentation.
