Mechanical Engineer – Engineering Services

About the role

Valeo is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Engineering Services team. You will be responsible for creating and developing mechanical concepts for new automotive products and enhancements, working from initial design through to full production.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and develop detailed mechanical designs for new products and product upgrades.
• Create and maintain complex 3D models using SolidWorks and support hands‑on prototyping and validation.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure cost‑effective, reliable production.
• Perform engineering analyses, including GD&T, tolerance stack‑up, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) with SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Produce complete design documentation: 2D drawings, Engineering Change Orders, Bills of Materials, and specifications.
• Manufacture and assemble components, using hand tools and shop equipment.
• Collaborate with software, system, manufacturing, testing and other cross‑functional teams to transition designs to production.

Required profile

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes and component assembly.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD, specifically SolidWorks (CATIA v5 is a bonus).
• Expertise in creating accurate 2D drawings and applying GD&T standards.
• Solid understanding of DFM and DFA principles.
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Knowledge of machining, sheet‑metal fabrication and additive manufacturing (FDM, SLA).
• Practical skills with hand tools and shop equipment.
