Medical Director – 150‑Bed Hospital, Cairo

About the role

The 150‑bed hospital in downtown Cairo is seeking a senior physician to serve as Medical Director. Reporting to the Hospital Director and the Executive Board, the role will shape clinical strategy, ensure high‑quality patient care, and maintain compliance with national and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the hospital’s overall medical and clinical strategy.
• Supervise department heads and medical staff across all specialties, overseeing professional development and performance evaluation.
• Collaborate with administrative leadership on operational planning, resource allocation, and service design.
• Develop, update, and enforce clinical policies, protocols, and patient‑safety initiatives.
• Ensure full compliance with Egyptian Ministry of Health regulations, licensing, and GAHAR accreditation standards.
• Lead credentialing, privileging, and reappointment processes for medical staff.
• Monitor clinical indicators, patient outcomes, and risk‑management metrics, driving quality‑improvement projects.
• Act as liaison among medical staff, nursing, allied health, and support services to optimise patient flow.
• Participate in committees on quality, ethics, infection control, mortality review, and medical education.
• Represent the medical staff in board meetings, strategic planning sessions, and external regulatory engagements.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBCh or equivalent) with a valid Egyptian medical license.
• Master’s degree in a medical specialty; postgraduate qualification in hospital or health management, public health, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of clinical experience, including at least 5 years in a medical leadership role such as Medical Director or Department Head.
• Proven experience in clinical governance, patient safety, quality assurance, infection control, and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of GAHAR accreditation standards.
• Familiarity with Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) regulations.
• Understanding of international accreditation frameworks such as JCI.
• Expertise in clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, and infection control.
