Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Advisor

About the role

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Advisor provides strategic and technical leadership for MHPSS programming across development and humanitarian contexts. Reporting to the PDQI Director, the advisor ensures that programmes are evidence‑based, well‑monitored, and aligned with Save the Children’s Country Strategic Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, periodic review, and implementation of the country MHPSS strategy, thematic plans, and emergency preparedness priorities.
• Support sectoral and multi‑sectoral assessments, guide programme design, proposal development, and master budgeting.
• Provide technical assurance, define standards for integrated MHPSS design and delivery, and ensure adherence in collaboration with thematic advisors and senior operations.
• Represent Save the Children in technical and inter‑agency fora, and collaborate with MEAL to ensure accurate measurement and reporting of results.
• Promote integration of MHPSS across child protection, health, education, livelihoods, and social protection, strengthening referral pathways, safeguarding, inclusion, and participation.
• Spend at least 30% of time in the field across Greater Cairo, Aswan, Alexandria, Minia, and Assiut.

Required profile

• Level 3 child safeguarding clearance, with regular contact with children and young people.
• Proven experience in MHPSS programming within development and humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global and country‑level MHPSS advisors and senior staff.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Egypt.
