Middle Data Scientist

About the role

Vertex Technologies is looking for a skilled Middle Data Scientist to join its Cairo office. You will work on building and maintaining data pipelines, training machine‑learning models, and deploying LLM‑powered systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the team to implement new features that support growing data needs.
• Build, maintain, and deploy DS and ML pipelines, including data retrieval, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and inference.
• Develop LLM‑powered systems and agent pipelines, handling prompt engineering, tool integration, memory management, and output evaluation.
• Share knowledge with other teams and help decide tools and strategies for specific scenarios.

Required profile

• Upper‑intermediate English proficiency.
• Strong mathematical and statistical background, including tensor calculus.
• At least 2 years of commercial experience as a Data Scientist.

Required skills

• Python with Scikit‑learn, NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib.
• Experience with gradient‑boosting algorithms (XGBoost or LightGBM).
• Knowledge of databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL.
• Familiarity with LLM orchestration tools (LangChain, LangGraph) and cloud LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI).
• Hands‑on experience with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation pipelines and vector databases (pgvector, FAISS, Weaviate, Pinecone).
• Prompt engineering, agentic workflows, and at least one deep‑learning framework (TensorFlow/Keras or PyTorch).
• Experience with classic ML/DL models (BERT, ResNet) and end‑to‑end training pipelines.
• GitHub/GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes; optional Spark and Airflow.
