Police Officer 2 – Campus Safety

About the role

The Louisiana State University of Alexandria is seeking a Police Officer 2 to provide law‑enforcement and safety services across its 5,300‑acre campus, multiple buildings, on‑campus housing, and off‑campus sites. This classified position works flexible AM and PM shifts and requires both foot and vehicle patrols.

Key responsibilities

• Protect lives and property through active foot patrols and mobile patrols, including high‑speed driving when necessary.
• Enforce university regulations and state laws, investigate crimes and accidents, and prepare incident reports.
• Utilize defensive tactics and law‑enforcement equipment such as hand‑to‑hand techniques, chemical agents, baton, taser, firearm, and handcuffs.
• Respond to emergencies, provide crowd control, and support campus events.
• Maintain a visible presence at the State Evacuation Center and other critical facilities.

Required profile

• Current Civil Service test score for the 2100‑Protective Services Exam (or documented exemption).
• Valid Class E driver’s license.
• Completion of the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) course.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including supervised AM and PM rotations.
• Commitment to uphold university policies and state regulations.
