Process & Process Safety Engineer

About the role

BP Exploration (Epsilon) is looking for a Process & Process Safety Engineer to drive optimisation of process operations and uphold the highest safety standards across its facilities. The role blends core process engineering tasks with rigorous process‑safety responsibilities, supporting reliable and efficient production in the oil‑and‑gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) for multiple operational units.
• Run steady‑state process simulations to identify optimisation opportunities and troubleshoot issues.
• Design and implement alarm‑management strategies to reduce operational risk.
• Provide expertise on selection, operation and maintenance of centrifugal pumps and other critical equipment.
• Optimise distillation and separation trains to improve product quality and efficiency.
• Oversee water‑treatment processes to meet environmental and operational requirements.
• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and other safety studies.
• Develop instrument and protective systems to prevent and mitigate incidents.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and project engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Communicate technical information clearly through presentations and written reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in process engineering and process safety within the oil‑and‑gas industry.
• Strong knowledge of alarm‑management principles and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 10 % and contribute to a diverse, inclusive workplace.
