Professor (Assistant/Associate/Full) – Americas, Asia & World History

About the role

The Sultan Al-Qasimi Department of History at the American University in Cairo seeks scholars of modern world history with expertise in the Americas, Asia, and/or global history. This open‑rank, four‑year fixed‑term appointment begins in Fall 2027 and may be renewed based on teaching, research, and service performance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach three undergraduate courses each semester in English, including historiographical, methodological, survey, and upper‑level special‑topic seminars.
• Develop and update curricula that reflect the interconnected nature of global history.
• Maintain an active research agenda and publish scholarly work relevant to the position.
• Contribute to departmental service, advising, and mentorship of students.

Required profile

• PhD in History (or a closely related field) to be completed by 1 September 2027.
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level.
• Specialization in modern world history with the ability to cover the Americas, Asia, and/or world‑history themes.
• Strong command of English for instruction and scholarly communication.
