Project Manager - Automatic Fare Collection (AFC)

About the role

Hitachi Rail is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead its portfolio of Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) projects at RCS Egypt in Cairo. The role reports directly to the Head of AFC Projects and works closely with teams based in France and Cairo. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the AFC project portfolio, aligned with organizational objectives.
• Develop project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, resources and risk management, and oversee execution against timelines and milestones.
• Build and manage project teams, including project managers, engineers and technicians, and foster collaboration and skills development.
• Engage clients, vendors and internal departments, manage relationships and resolve issues promptly.
• Work closely with the French teams to ensure smooth delivery and knowledge sharing.
• Monitor budgets, track expenses and implement cost control measures.
• Set up quality assurance processes so deliverables meet or exceed industry standards and client requirements.
• Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and prepare regular progress reports and executive summaries.
• Stay up to date with AFC trends, best practices and emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Proven track record managing complex AFC or related projects.
• At least 5 years of project management experience, with end-to-end delivery and stakeholder management.
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with clients, senior management and project teams.
• PMP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

• Solid understanding of budgeting, financial management and risk assessment.
