Project Officer – CARES Environmental Grants

About the role

The Officer will lead the full operational implementation of the CARES project, coordinating training cohorts across Egypt and two African countries. This grant‑funded position ensures that all project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with AUC and donor regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the entire project lifecycle, including logistics, procurement, and on‑site operations for Cairo and regional training cohorts.
• Supervise project team members, ensuring alignment with timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints.
• Manage the project budget, forecast expenditures, and ensure compliance with institutional and donor financial regulations.
• Oversee contracts with trainers, consultants, and partner institutions, and prepare donor progress, financial, and final reports.
• Serve as primary liaison with regional partners and AUC departments, supporting communication, outreach, and website management.
• Support curriculum development, contextualisation, and the launch of digital learning initiatives such as online platforms, alumni portals, and MOOCs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, international development, economics, or a related field (required).
• Master’s degree in project management, environmental sciences, sustainable development, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in project management, preferably with donor‑funded programmes.
