Rehire Police Officer (Former Denver PD)

About the role

This position is open exclusively to former Denver Police Officers who left the department under honorable circumstances and wish to return. It offers a pathway to re‑enter law‑enforcement service in the City of Denver.

Key responsibilities

• Suppress crime and protect life and property within an assigned sector.
• Investigate criminal activity, traffic violations, and vehicle accidents.
• Apprehend and arrest violators of criminal and traffic laws.
• Recover stolen property and regulate non‑criminal conduct.
• Patrol designated precincts, become familiar with local businesses, facilities, and residents.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and respond to dispatch calls.

Required profile

• Former classified service member separated under honorable circumstances.
• Separation must be within three (3) years; application should be submitted before 2½ years of separation.
• Written approvals from the Chief of Police, Executive Director of Safety, and a majority of the Civil Service Commission.
• Pass required examinations (polygraph, Job Suitability Assessment, background investigation, medical evaluation, drug screen) as applicable.
• Compliance with pension and re‑employment rules where relevant.
